Title: My Next Question :-P
Post by: Mark on April 14, 2005, 07:10:26 PM
OK, what is in the /home/user/tmp/urchin/ folder and does it take up part of our alotted space? I'm wondering because it's over 10mb :P

EDIT: Here's the disk use stats, edited to not show my folders of course:

Those are the temp files used by Urchin -- one of the stats programs installed on the server.  If you go under "web / ftp statistics" in cpanel, you can find the option for Urchin there if you want to try it out.

You can delete them if you're not using it or we can for you.

Regards,
Jason

hmmm, well I will check it out just to see what it's like. If I don't like it I will delete the files, no need to trouble you with that :)

And now I see why it's 10mb, that's an awesome stats program (I really like the SVG use). I don't think I will be deleting it hehe.

Yes, it's very intuitive -- It makes stats that are easy enough for almost anyone to use.

However, the downside is that its log files can get huge.  I've been told that for big sites they can take up gigs of space and have to be cleared occassionally (if you can live with losing your stats).  I've removed them nearing 200mb's before...

Wow, yeah looks like I will have to do some pruning every now and then.
