Title: New Storage and Transfer Quotas - February 2011
Post by: Jason on February 07, 2011, 03:45:24 PM
Charlottezweb is pleased to announce that it will be increasing storage and transfer quotas on all hosting package levels for the first time in its near decade of history.

Whereas,
I continue to believe that our offering is equal or substantially FAR better than most competitors out there as it relates to quality hosting...

Whereas,
I think our server speeds, responsiveness and network availability typically crushes our competition...

...Charlottezweb would be NOTHING without our our clients and their satisfaction.  Truth be told, we've always been a very personalized service and much of my satisfaction has been with working with you all individually and watching your sites and businesses grow throughout the years.

(I've mentioned this before but I still have my original customer as a subscriber!)

Technology has certainly improved in some areas (not all) and I'd like to pass along the savings I can where possible.  If you have personalized needs, please let me know.

Here's the background:
Overselling has become the game these days. Offering incredible or unlimited storage and quotas has become the mainstream approach.  Some of the larger providers attempt to back these claims but typically, the offerings are physically not possible.  For example, for some of the unlimted providers, I ask:  "Where I can buy an unlimited hard drive? I'd surely love one!"  Bottom line, a lot of the market today is around selling options that aren't physically deliverable at the end of the day.  I WILL NEVER GO THIS ROUTE.  Every resource I sell you will be your's to consume and NOT oversold.

Here's how this will work:

I will not change the quotas at the server level all at once because that will reset *everyone* on certain packages causing unnecessary problems.  I learned that the hard way years ago.  This will be done on a case-by-case basis for now.  I will do my best to adjust requests I receive daily though please be patient if it takes me longer.

Bottom-line -- if you qualify, please open a ticket and I'll adjust your account as soon as possible.  Global changes will probably come later once I account for some of the accounts that have much more customized configurations.

Overall, I thank you for your continued business!

As I've said before, Charlottezweb is solely based on a love of Internet technology.  My engagment comes from helping and witnessing others establish themselves online.  As long as people continue to seek online exposure, I'll do all I can to be around to offer it.  :)

Cheers,
Jason

Sorry, I originally posted this whole message in the "News" board instead of linking from there to a new thread.  Replies in the "News" board are restricted so nobody could reply.

As an update, I'll plan on posting the new specs within the next few days.  Thanks!

That's great! I was worried last month about cutting it close to my bandwidth usage, this solves it!

Wow, congratulations on this big change Jason! Good to see all is well with Charlottezweb. :)

As for me, I'm in no rush for the increase so I'll just wait till you get to it, no need to overwhelm you.

No problem.   :)

Due to the number of customized accounts, it may be some time before I do this across the board.  It will likely be easier to change it on new accounts or server changes vs. global changes in the short term.  In the past, if you adjusted a package it would change all sites assigned to that package.  That could disrupt some users with customized setups if it still works that way so I'd rather do them one-by-one for now until I can confirm how it behaves.
