I'm going into web design shortly and will be needing a Web Graphics Program to create the graphics for every website.

Does anyone know of a good free graphics program? I don't have a steady hand, making it EXTREMELY difficult to make anything in Paint or Paint.NET. Any ideas?

If you're not going commercial, the one you mentioned is one recommendation:

Or GIMP although GIMP is pretty advanced and not so much a web graphics editor.

When it comes to web graphics, I've always used Fireworks.

If your budget is tight, you could look at Coffeecup's web image studio. It's about $40.

Actually, they have a watered-down free version you might want to check. Not sure what its limitations are...

I see Jason linked a Mac application, are you on a Mac Longhorn? Scratch that, I see now that Paint.NET is a Windows app.

If so, check out Pixelmator. While it's not free, it's only $15 and it's supposed to be really good (I don't use it, so I can't say for sure).
