April 30, 2004 :: Mysql outtage this afternoon

Mysql services hung up this afternoon on the server.  Http services were unaffected, however, any portions of your sites that require mysql databases, (such as forums, photo galleries and various other scripts), would have been inoperable during this time.

Services have been cleared out and restored and all sites should be running properly as of now.  I will be monitoring this issue for the rest of this evening to make sure everything stabilizes.

I will update this thread if we are able to determine the cause.  One of our more popular sites was mentioned today in an article on Wired.com (Congratulations, by the way!) and it's quite possible that when that article was released, a large flow of traffic to his site (which has a pretty large forum regardless of any extra traffic) may have halted mysql.
