Greetings,

As a practice, Charlottezweb will email all clients (or all clients on a specific server) whenever there are service-impacting updates.  For example, server outages, reboots, network maintenance, etc.

I will also send notices for anything significant impacting Charlottezweb as a business.

For current customers who are receiving these emails, would you like to receive MORE, LESS or the SAME volume of emails you currently receive?  Are you interested in hearing more often what's going on with Charlottezweb?

I don't want to spam your mailboxes but if you feel you're not getting enough information, I'd like to know that too.

Please vote and post any comments you may have in this thread.

THANKS!!   8)

Mark

Well, for me personally (and this is just a thought, may not work to well) I think it would be cool if maybe there was sort of a monthly newsletter featuring things that have been going on in the world of Charlottezweb. Maybe some highlights from the forum, some FAQ type stuff (like "Hey, did you know know...") and maybe even a customer interview. Kind of like a, how long have you been with Charlottezweb, why kind of website do you run etc. A short Q and A with your fellow hostees if you will. :)

Just my thoughts.

Jason

Interesting suggestion -- I like it.  I'll add that to my list of things to think on. Thanks!

Opt out for all emails or which ones?

Thanks,

The selection would work best.  Then there is no dispute about more or less email!  ;)

When I send out my "all client" or "by server" emails, it's using phpList.  You can opt-out at the bottom of those.

Typically though, those are pretty important notices when I send them.  Of course, it's completely up to a customer if they want to stay current through the forum or via email.  I'd just hate for them to miss a planned outage or something because they had no clue.

You can manually unsubscribe here too:  http://www.charlottezweb.com/emailer

As for invoices and receipts, that's automated.  I'm not sure I can stop those for one individual but I can look into that.

My mistake - I used the wrong terminology - OPT IN.

Sign up for them when you sign up for your hosting.  Have ability to change them from cpanel.

Gotcha -- yes, I do need to add a way to signup.  Right now I manually add everyone to the mail distro by server when they subscribe but it would be nice to make it easier (or automated) for someone to add new addresses easily.

You can subscribe on the page I referenced above but it wouldn't hurt to template it better and update it to allow suscription by server (which is how I have it configured internally).

I'll add this to my "list."  :)
