Today I was directed to a Google place I never saw before,

It's Google Webmaster tools which is a handy interface for finding out how your site is doing in google:

When I put in my site for Dreamweaver Google said thats not a site but a page - put in your url..

...SMF would'nt run without the PHP at the end...would it?

You don't need to list the file name index.php because it's loaded automatically.

I never even thought of trying that Jason. I do usually omit the '?'..well well well. I learn more here than I ever did at my other host.
