Hey, Guys.

What does everyone use/recommend for their FTP software?

I Finally have sometime to spend with my long neglected site thanks to a long weekend, so I'm putting some utilities on my system I've missed since a complete format a month or two ago.

Payware/freeware...doesn't matter.

Thanks :)

Jason

I've used WS FTP Pro for probably 5+ years and have no complaints.  http://ipswitch.com/products/ws_ftp/index.asp

I think a lot of people like Coffee Cup's Direct FTP software too.  http://www.coffeecup.com/direct-ftp/

Another one I can think of by name is Smart FTP:  http://www.smartftp.com/

The pricing for WS FTP Pro is about $20 more than the other two.  There are free trials for most of them I think.

Thanks, Jason.

I was using WS_FTP pro as well...but, I tried the lastest this morning on my Vista system and it looks horrible, gave me a headache.  It appears they still have some problems with Vista from what I've read.  So, the reason for my question...

I'm trying a few now....smartftp in next on my list.

thanks.

Jason

Vista -- there's your problem.  :D

 :P

Strangely enough, Vista has been rock solid for me and what I do...I like it ;)

I personally use CuteFTP Professional. I've been using it since version 5 and have never looked at another client. It's compatible with Windows Vista too.

To update this thread a bit, a popular free solution is Filezilla

Of course, there are many more as well...

Hey Jason (and everyone else), I'd also like to add an FTP solution to this thread. It's called an "FTP Alternative" because it can send files via FTP but also HTTP, HTTPS. It's like Dropbox but designed for enterprise users: http://www.thruinc.com/ftp-alternative/.

Interesting, thanks.

Does it support FTP for connecting to non "Thru" servers?  It looks like it's more of file sharing service vs. one you could use to connect to your hosting account.
