How do we get things like javascript Neopods in our themes as a sidebar thing please?

It would depend on the theme I suppose. Either way you'd likely need to edit the code to include it unless you're using a portal or some sort of system that supports it without manual editing.
Are you looking at something specific that has instructions on their site?
