Title: August 29, 2007 :: Cyclone mysql being upgraded to 5.x tonight
Post by: Jason on August 29, 2007, 05:32:59 PM
We will be upgrading mysql on our server Cyclone tonight from 4.x to 5.x.

5.x is reported to be very compatible with cPanel 11 and should be a painless migration.  Ultimately we will be migrating all servers as 4.x is phased out so we will start with Cyclone tonight to see how this goes.

There will likely be a short mysql outage as part of the upgrade process.  If there are any changes, I will post it here.

Thanks!

I think I'll give it a day or two to see if anything weird comes up with Cyclone.  As far as I know right now, the move appeared painless so let's hope no problems arose for anyone that would slow us down.

Well, as long as everyones scripts are up to date (as they should be!) then I'm sure by now the majority of high quality scripts out there support v5.

Now if you you are running Joe Schmoe's Cart Skript you may be in trouble. :P

What if I upgraded to v1.3?

It's definitely upgraded to 5.x but I see what you're talking about in your cpanel.  WHM even shows the right version.  It may "refresh" itself overnight.

Update:  Thunderstorm ran into some issues and is presently offline.  It looks like the memory is bad.  I just got off the phone with the datacenter and they're taking it down now to swap out the memory.

I will create a new forum post for this issue so it can be tracked separately from this "mysql thread."

The memory in Thunderstorm failed testing last night and was replaced.  Further details are in this thread (http://www.charlottezweb.com/forums/index.php?topic=821.0).

After bringing the server back up, MySQL was upgraded successfully.

We have two servers remaining and I will have them done over the weekend.
