Title: Virus Alert -- Sept 27, 2004 -- spoofed sender
Post by: Jason on September 27, 2004, 07:04:34 AM
As always, NEVER open any attachments you receive by email, no matter who it appears to be coming from when you aren't expecting it.  I've been receiving copies of a message that pretends to be coming from me. It says the following:

Quote
Dear user  of  Charlottezweb.com gateway e-mail  server,

We warn you about  some attacks  on your e-mail account. Your computer may contain viruses, in  order to keep  your computer and  e-mail account safe, please, follow the instructions.

For  details  see the  attach.

For security reasons attached file  is  password protected. The  password  is "04725".

Have  a good day,
   The Charlottezweb.com team                            http://www.charlottezweb.com

Note, this is NOT coming from Charlottezweb.  Furthermore, the passworded zip is a dead giveaway of the true nature of this email.  Please delete these immediately to avoid possible infection.

Regards,
Jason

Another wave of these seems to be making the rounds presently.  Again, just delete these emails.

Dear user of Charlottezweb.com,

Some of our clients complained about the spam (negative e-mail content)
outgoing from your e-mail account. Probably, you have been infected by
a proxy-relay trojan server. In order to keep your computer safe,
follow the instructions.

Further details can be obtained from attached file.

Regards,
Jason
