September 13, 2007 :: Thunderstorm Memory Issues

Thunderstorm experienced a memory failure during the mysql upgrade.  It's presently offline.

I just got off the phone with the datacenter and they are taking the server down to test/replace the memory.

I will update this thread as I learn more.

Update:  The memory was tested last night and it failed.  It was swapped out with new memory and the server was brought back online.  The MySQL upgrade was completed after that.

Overall, this server experienced several hours of outage overnight.  On the positive side, upgrading mysql provided a form of stress-test that caused the memory problem to surface.  This is the server that's replacing Thunder and it presently only has about 5 accounts on it.  Certainly this outage was disruptive to them but it's good to have the issue resolved now before the problem became bigger down the road.
