Lightning Reboot :: February 3, 2005

This is an email that is being sent to clients on Lightning.

Dear xxxxxxx,

I'm informing everyone on our second server, Lightning, that we're experiencing high loads again (see the reboot thread dated yesterday) that have caused several small service restarts (1-3 minute service restarts) throughout last night.  Loads are very high right now because there are processes running that we are not able to kill again.  We are requesting another immediate reboot that will cause 2-5 minutes of outage again to kill those hung processes.

Furthermore, we're escalating this issue to the datacenter (ev1) to have them evaluate the hardware for any problems as this issue should not be occurring.  I will keep everyone up to date with info as I get it.  Please signup on our forum and select to be notified on the following thread if you wish to be emailed of updates as I get them:

The reboot went quickly as planned with only a few minute outage.

We're still looking into the hardware issue.  I will update the thread once I have more news on that.
