2.0 release candidate 1 has been released to SMF Charter Members.  Looks like this may hit public in the next week or so...  (we're running it here now).

Simple Machines is proud to announce the release of SMF 2.0 RC1 to Charter Members. This first Release Candidate of 2.0 concludes the period of beta testing and is one of last steps towards 2.0 going gold. Numerous bugs that were reported after the release of Beta 4 have been fixed and improvements have been made to security, stability, and performance.

Note that the public release of this Release Candidate is likely to happen within the next week. If you are currently running 2.0 beta 4, we advise you to upgrade to 2.0 RC1 as it is more stable and secure.

Major changes since the last release:
   * Fixed a significant amount of bugs reported by Beta testers, Charter Members, and community members
   * Improved security by updating session checks and building in extra checks.
   * Updated the interface to assure a more intuitive navigation.
   * Updated the profile interface to be more consistent with the admin and moderation navigation
   * Several theme improvements so that the themes are moving toward better semantics and standards support.
   * Better database layer support.

Note the packages include everything you need to install a fresh board, or to upgrade from 2.0 Beta 4 – or any previous version of SMF. You can checkout the changelog on the download page for a full list of changes. Please continue to report all bug and support issues in the dedicated SMF 2.0 board as opposed to the public boards or the helpdesk. We're also very keen to hear your feedback, positive and negative, to help us continue to improve the software.

Thank you for your continued support,

Simple Machines

I'm not sure if this is the best time to upgrade. I will wait for the stable version.

For charter members who upgraded with the first release, make sure to re-upgrade to the latest public version as it contains some fixes from the initial charter release.
