As for the sound volume, I've run into that on the PC too and it's probably on Netflix's end and not the player.

Probably.  Some were just fine so that's my guess.

Just in time for the weekend my player is being delivered to my house today. I can't wait, going to be watching a ton of movies tonight! :)

One word, awesome! What a great little device. And when I say little, I mean little! I know they said small but damn! lol

I've already put 50+ movies in my instant queue.

Jason

I got a survey yesterday from netflix with probably 10-15 multipart questions on what I thought of it.  I hope the huge response they've seen so far will make them increase their rate of adding new instant content.

Jason, how goes it with your player? I'm still LOVING mine, and now with Starz on there my queue has doubled. I'm at about 70 and counting lol.

I do think that it needs a bit of a UI upgrade though. Now with my list as big as it is, it'd be nice to be able to browse alpha, genre, or rating. And move left or right in chunks rather than one movie at a time.

Funny, when I received the email of your reply I was coming here to make the same comment.  They need to make it so you're able to create folders/categories or something.  Or perhaps a way to allow you to specify how many movie thumbnails are displayed per page.  For people with reasonable sized screens it would be cool to show a table of 4 x 4 or 5 x 5 so you could quickly scroll that way.

I started making my queue big like that and it gets annyoing have to sort using the website.

But the STARZ addition made my day when I read about it.  I think they're going to be adding more movies and making the channel itself stream over it soon.

That would be nice, I've watched the Starz live stream on the computer but I'd prefer the TV.

Oh, and my only other gripe (and this is more with Netflix as the player has nothing to do with it) is that they put the English dubbing track on all the foreign movies. So I still have to rent those on DVD.

Seems like our little player is growing up. :D

The player, now dubbed "Roku Digital Video Player", now plays Amazon videos as of today! I haven't received the update yet, but I plan on trying tonight to see if I can get it. Last big update, I read on the forums trying to update your device 3 times within 5 or 10 seconds should trigger it from the server. It worked for me on the 1.5 update and I hope it does for this one. :)

Can't wait to try it out. I received an Amazon digital copy of Batman: Dark Knight for free when I ordered the Blu-Ray version for my dad for Christmas. Still need to watch it hehe.

Jason

I got that email notice today too -- pretty cool stuff!

Have you tried HD on your tv via the box?  (My tv isn't hd compatible).

No because I can't! I'm actually pissed about that. See, I have an older (hand-me-down) HDTV that only supports 480i/p and 1080i but for whatever reason Roku doesn't think 1080i or even 1080p is HD, therefor only supporting 720p. >:(

But I have tried the HD on my Xbox 360 and it looks great, and up-converts to 1080i.

If you haven't tried yet Jason, performing 3 consecutive update requests still gets you the update straight away. Otherwise it says no update available if you just do it once.

Jason

Will give that a shot if it's not there already when I check tomorrow.  With my netflix account I don't see the need to pay additional to Amazon (unless it's one of those spur of the moment "have to see something" situations) but it'll be worth checking out.

Glad I bought one of these things -- they keep getting better and better!  Especially for the cost.
