Hey

The last time I checked my cpanel, it said I'm using about 120mb of my 200mb space...but I can't really pinpoint where I am actually using this space.

I do have a message board but I used to have it hosted on another server and it never got that bad as far as space goes...

Does anyone know where I can find out where I'm using this space?

:-X

Edit: I just checked and apparently I'm using 66 or so megs in a folder called temp/urchin.  Is it safe to delete this folder?

Jason

Hi, yes, you can delete that folder.  Urchin (http://www.urchin.com) is a graphical statistics package that is viewable in cpanel under "web/ftp stats."  It's a great package but it does log a lot of information which you will probably want to clear out from time to time.

Jason

The entire urchin folder or just the contents? or just the data in the folders.

The whole thing is fine.  The way cPanel works, it will rebuild it anyway.  We're actually having an issue because of this for a few accounts right now.  It can fill up pretty quickly if you have lots of subdomains.

Though it is a great program, is there a way to permanently remove the folder for us lower package users? I know I haven't come close to my space quota but I'm about to start uploading a ton of images in the coming months and I don't want Urchin taking up a ton of space :(

That's the issue now with a few clients unfortunately.  The only known way (other than manually deleting it or using a cron to do that) is for us to upgrade to the Edge release of cPanel which isn't the most preferable option. The edge (beta) release has the ability for me to turn Urchin on/off on a per account basis which isn't possible presently with cPanel stable.  But of course, going to beta on a production server is typically not wise with cPanel.

Otherwise, I could remove Urchin completely server-wide until that functionality is moved into a stable release.

I'm going to mull it over tonight and possibly email all clients to vote in a poll of whether to remove it server-wide for now.
