Beta 2...

You can find the downloads here:  ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/2.0b2/

Read all about it here:

Seems decent so far but also seems slower for me...

From the site itself:
Note: The Firefox 2 Beta 2 build you are using is NOT A FINAL VERSION of Firefox, it has been made available for testing purposes only, with no end-user support. If that sounds scary, you'd probably be better off with the latest version of Firefox

update:

It seemed a little slow at first, but it was just re-caching everything it seems.

Don't expect your present themes to work.

I miss being able to quick close a tab on the far right of the tab bar (the 'x' is in each individual tab now).

Also, even if you install it in its own beta folder (as it does by default), your existing firefox will start opening the new beta.  At least for me.  Even if I go to my original installation in a separate folder and try executing it from there.  That's a new one for me... so I can't guarantee you can run both versions.

But overall, it's supposed to have some cool features.  So far so good.

I've been using Beta 1 on my laptop (downloaded Beta 2 earlier today but haven't installed) and I like it a lot. A lot of neat new features and optimizations. I like that I don't need to have Google Toolbar anymore as well. Don't get me wrong, I like Google Toolbar a lot, but I love built in features more. My most notable favorite features are...

  • Built in automatic spellchecking (who doesn't need that from time to time right? :P)
  • Search suggestions, where you type in Firefox's search box and it shows a list of what you could be looking for so you can search faster. Like Google Toolbar does.
  • The new Themes/Extensions window, I like how they put it all together in a single window.

I know there's other features I like about it, but I'm not on my laptop right now and I can't think of them. :-\

Also, I don't use too many themes or extensions, so the fact that some don't work with Beta 2 doesn't really bother me.

EDIT: As I post about liking the spellchecker, I post this riddled with spelling mistakes. What can I say, it's late. :P

hehe

I miss my themes.  They'll be updated soon I guess.  I never really switch around once I find one that I like, but it's nice every now and then to switch things up a bit.  Certainly not my biggest concern :)

So far so good.

Interesting, I just installed Beta 2, and it would seem they took out the option to disable cookies from 3rd party website. I hope that's automatic now. :-X

Doh! And Alt+S doesn't work for posting in SMF anymore, it brings up my history menu. :'(

hehe, I read that on SMF today too.  I never used that functionality but it's upset at least 2 people now.
